Summer fayre
For a fantastic family day out head to Holy Trinity Church on Clapham Common for London’s biggest church fayre. With a bouncy castle, donkey rides and a dog show there’s plenty for the kids to enjoy, while the BBQs, various stalls, music and, of course, the tombola mean there’s definitely something for everyone. Also, it’s all for a good cause (last year’s fayre raised £20,000) with proceeds going to Emmaus South Lambeth to help to tackle homelessness. Saturday 21 June from 11am. Holy Trinity Church, Clapham Common.
Garden paradise
Nestling in Bonnington Square in Vauxhall is the Pleasure Garden, a tranquil community garden that provides the ideal escape from the stresses of city life. Created by local residents on a World War Two bombsite, the garden has lush sub-tropical foliage, a delightful play area for kids, refreshments and even an impressive antique waterwheel. Open to all, the Pleasure Garden is the perfect place to unwind. To find out more visit www.garden.bonningtonsquare.org.uk. Saturdays and Sundays, 10am-5am
Ballet on the big screen
This summer the Clapham Picturehouse will be screening a trio of ballets from the Royal Opera House. All three will be shown in HD and tickets cost £12.50 (concessions £11, members £10, under-16s £3). To book or for more information, call 0871 704 2068; www.picturehouses.co.uk/summerseason
